Class Policies and Requirements
for Physical Science 2007-2008
Goal: My goal is to operate a Christ
centered classroom where learning takes place.
Text: Physical Science (Science
Spectrum), Holt, Rinehart, and Winston, 2004
Equipment: A scientific calculator will be needed.
Quizzes: Announced or unannounced over information since
last test.
Tests: Announced over 1-2 chapters.
A cumulative semester test and final exam will be given.
-NOTE: Communication during quizzes or tests will result in a zero score and a cheating incident report.
Homework: Homework will be assigned. It is due at the
BEGINNING of the period the next class period that the class meets. It
should be done on 8.5 X 11 inch ruled paper with smooth edges (rough or spiral
not accepted), or on graph paper.
Projects: Various research papers and reports or projects
will be required each semester.
Make-up Work:
1. Only for excused absences
2. The student is responsible for getting missed assignments before (for pre-arranged absences) or while absent (for unplanned absences). Please check the Collegedale Academy web site @ http://www.collegedaleacademy.com for assignments. One day will be allowed for each day missed for turning in make-up work without penalty.
3. Penalty for late work is 50% off. Late work will be accepted only one day after it is due.
4. If you are gone one day, you will not necessarily be excused from tests or quizzes the day you return. Normally you should get assignments and be ready for any tests or quizzes when you return (assignments are located on the Collegedale Academy website @ http://www.collegedaleacademy.com).
5. Work (excluding tests) missed for school sponsored trips may be averaged in.
Attendance: Being in class is very important. Regular attendance is crucial to keeping up with class information. Plan on being in class each day. When you cannot be there, it is your responsibility to get your missed assignments and keep up (assignments are posted on the web @ http://www.collegedaleacademy.com). The student has two days from the day they return to get their absences excused. Three tardies are equivalent to one absence..
Laboratory: You will be evaluated based on staying on task,
carrying out safe conduct and procedures during lab, participation,
thoroughness, technique, and housekeeping. Individual written reports
will be turned in for labs.
Class Decorum: You must be in your seat and quiet when the
bell rings. Absolutely no talking or whispering while the teacher is
talking.
Grading: Points earned for all homework, quizzes and tests
are equal. Points are added and divided by the total
possible. Semester and final grade calculation: each nine
weeks grade = 40% ; semester exam = 20%. No exemptions
granted for semester or final exams.
