RE: Petitioning for general education computer credit at SAU

If you’ve passed the IC-3 exams and you’re not a senior this year, you will have to petition for the Computer Concepts class credit that is 1 semester hour when you apply at SAU. Fill out a Petition for Academic Exemption at the Records and Advisement office on first floor of Wright Hall. I will be submitting your name on a list of those who received IC-3 certification to Mrs. Joni Zier.

You will also need to submit your Certiport digital transcript to Mrs. Zier at Southern after you’ve applied to attend. To do that:

• Login to your Certiport account with the username you tested under, which should be the same as your CA username for most (make note of it someplace so you don’t forget it by then!)
• At the top of the page, click the “My Transcript” tab.
• Once there, there’s a drop-down box to the upper left of the white portion. Set it to Authorized View.
• Look to the right of that box to see a link that reads “Authorize a Viewer.”
• Click that and provide this e-mail address: jzier@southern.edu
• You can add a brief message if you like.

Congratulations on your accomplishments. Keep this sheet of directions for use when/if you apply to Southern. Remember, it’s not automatic. You have to go through this petition process to get the Computer Concepts credit. If you’d like a copy of the August 2007 letter from Joni Zier about this, I’ll be happy to give you one.
