| Group Work Process: Essay (4 People) |

| 1. | Reader reads own paper out loud to his group. No one else speaks. The reader does not explain, complain, or excuse. |
| 2. | Each group member then writes a first impression in 1 to 2 sentences. |
|
3. |
While the reader reads own paper through the 2nd time, each group member will constantly write comments that are positive, negative, and regarding any questions about the paper being presented. The more comments that are given, the better the reader will be able to edit the paper. The group members should not stop writing during this phase of the exercise. |
|
4. |
After the 2nd reading is completed, the reader will fill out his chart (the long form) as each group member explains their charts to him. Group members will not merely pass their charts over to the reader as he may not fully understand each member's meaning. In addition, the member will be able to elaborate--to better explain his point through this conversation phase. |
| 5. | The group members will then check over the paper for mechanical errors. |
| 6. | Finally, openly discuss the paper, but not too long because a new reader must begin the process shortly or the process will take all day. |
