Religion IV Class Expectations Sheet Collegedale Academy 2008- Mr. Hayes Class Goal: Through study together, we will cover topics that are very important to living a happy, successful Christian life! Course Study: We will study time management planning, the book of Romans and how the gospel is available to all who believe, God's design for love and companionship in the context of marriage and the family (practical information dealing with relationships, money management, and divorce), life philosophy (introducing students to the key words of philosophy, moral issues, and how a Christian responds to philosophical problems in life), the major world religions, but also worldviews, cults, and alternative religions and the Christian's response to them, and the Gospel of John. Books You Need: Bible, NAD Textbooks (Romans, Marriage and Family, Worldviews and Religion, and John) What I do : I will use many different approaches to present the important truths found in our study materials and will encourage each of you to be part of the process. I hope to learn as much from you as you will learn from me. I will pray for each of you daily and I solicit your prayers for me. This class encourages a team effort. If you fail to do well in this class, we, as a class, have failed you. Our goal should be the same- to encounter our Blessed Savior in a world that has many different focuses. What you do: Respect me and each other! Plan to succeed! Be ready to start class at the 2 nd bell. Be seated and have only Bible class materials with you. You have assigned seats and will be moved about the room each quarter. You will receive class participation points-just for being positively involved in daily class activities. This is almost 1/3 of your grade!! How participation points work- Each day 10 points can be earned just for fully focusing on the class activities. How you are graded: Participation- 30% Projects- 30% Tests 20% Quizzes 10% Daily Work/Homework- 10% Daily Work/ Homework: If you miss an assignment deadline (Projects included) and it is an excused absence, you will need to turn the assignment in the following class period to receive full credit. Assignments turned in later than this, will lose 20% loss of total points value-EACH DAY it is late! We all want a safe, cooperative environment in which to experience a daily growth in our relationship with Jesus! I want nothing more but to give you, with the leading of the Holy Spirit, the best possible Bible class experience ever! |
